| Biodiversity conservation and response of benthic communities to pressures, related to global change and human activities, are a research priority. They also constitute a useful indicator to define the environmental status of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive as part of the European Water Framework Directive (WFD). The biogeographic features of the Aquitanian coast (in terms of rocky substrate communities) induce the interest to have a monitoring and research site. | Cystoseira baccata, a biological quality element for the implementation of the Water Framework and Marine Strategy EU Directives, is a dominant species in the subtidal rocky bottoms of the Basque coast. As part of this issue and given the need to better understand the functional character of benthic rocky ecosystems and use them as a reference to anthropogenic changes, two samplings campaigns were conducted in 2014 and 2017. | To determine good ecological status and conservation of the Sub-Marine area of the Bay of Biscay, the implementation of a new rocky intertidal habitats monitoring is needed. A protocol has been adapted from the Brittany protocol for the water body FRFC11 "Basque coast" for the two indicators "intertidal macroalgae" and "subtidal macroalgae" under the Water Framework Directive to qualify the ecological. | In compliance with the Water Framework Directive (WFD), the good ecological status assessment for Channel-Atlantic coastal water bodies is currently carried out in the intertidal and subtidal zones using a biological indicator based on macroalgae on the rocky coasts. The second step of this Directive (2016-2021) deals with the workings of the marine ecosystem. Therefore, macrofauna has also to be taken into account in the both zones. | Descartes 2 propose la mise au point et l'optimisation de protocoles d'échantillonnage qualifiant les biocénoses marines et des ressources halieutiques d'intérêt régional sur deux types de milieux aquitains : la côte basque rocheuse et le bassin d'Arcachon.
